VIC, Australia Trial Success!

The township of Lorne along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria have beaten the Cockatoos and substantially reduced litter.

Positive impacts of Litter Lock in Lorne include:
1. Areas where Litter Lock was trialled, there has been a 50% reduction in reporting of escaped litter

2. The cockatoo population are unable to open the bins fitted with Litter Lock, the first time this has been achieved in Australia.

3. Rubbish collection drivers report less time out of their truck picking up residual litter.

4. The Litter Lock trial stands out as the most comprehensive, encompassing 198 bins and spanning a six-month period— the largest scale and longest duration among all tested mechanisms. This extensive evaluation instils stronger confidence in Litter Lock.
5. Litter Lock received over 93% positive feedback and also received more positive feedback than any of the other eight mechanisms combined.

Lorne now has over 3000 bins fitted with Litter Lock

/ Litter Lock has also commenced trials with Monash City Council (Vic) to address issues with litter in high-density residential areas (with fantastic early feedback from residents regarding cleaner streets where devices have been installed) and MacDonnell Regional Council (NT) to combat issues with weather and dingoes.

* Evaluation reports will be available on these areas in 2025.

We’d love the opportunity to work with your organisation to help address issues with litter in your area.
